The Window Washer is a locally owned and operated Home Maintenance and Remodeling business with the goal of providing quality customer service while meeting the many needs of homeowners in the Walworth County and surrounding nearby Southern Wisconsin & Northern Illinois areas.

Services include: residential window washing, gutter cleaning and installation, power washing, painting / staining, home repairs and remodeling.

Local Delavan resident Joe Zaukas founded The Window Washer in 1992 and has been growing his business in the local area ever since!

Joe attended college at Marquette University in Wisconsin where he studied Biomedical Engineering and then later transferred to Arizona State University to study International Business before leaving school to join the Air Force where he served as a Contracting Agent. After returning to the area, establishing his business and starting a family, he would eventually return to finish his degree with UW Whitewater, graduating Magna Cum Laude with an Honors Degree in Field Ecology including undergrad collaboration with Geneva Lakes Conservancy and the State Lab conducting and presenting research on water quality issues in Lake Geneva as well as bodies of water throughout Wisconsin.

Local Handyman and Home Repair Services

Having grown up in Fontana helping his Father with various home maintenance and repair projects, Joe gradually gained experience and knowledge in painting, carpentry, landscaping and general home repairs. Every winter Joe began offering handyman and home repair services to his friends and family. He was also contracted out for maintenance & repair service work by local painting companies, professional remodelers & home builders, masons, gutter installers, metal & shingle roof installers and pole barn builders.

Early in his business serving Lake Geneva WI estates initially as a landscaper and painter, a client in the 700 Club steered Joe towards the window washing industry, suggesting that he specialize in the window washing service which would offer a base from which he could choose to expand to include his skills in home renovation knowledge & home maintenance services

While cultivating his Window Washing business, Joe has worked hard to establish a trusting relationship with the community, his clients, and local contractors. . Though his business was originally started primarily as a window washing service, Joe would regularly field requests to complete various additional home maintenance and repair services including cleaning the gutters, fans and fixtures in vaulted or great room ceilings, and power washing and staining decks while he was on-site. Utilizing the skills he’d acquired over the years, and recognizing the need, it made sense to start offering more services until he became a full home maintenance & remodeling contractor!

Free Courtesy Home Inspection

When Joe is up on the ladder or roof washing the windows, he always tries to do an extra mini home survey and will point out any maintenance items that may need attention if he notices anything. We like to call it Joe’s Free Courtesy Home Inspection and in most cases, if he does find something wrong he can take care of the issue right away while he is on-site or he can schedule a time to come back in the near future. These types of home maintenance and repair services include gutter cleaning, roof cleaning, patio sidewalk, whole house power washing, painting, staining & more.

The Window Washer also offers home handyman services including replacing light bulbs, cleaning chandeliers & high up lights, replacing ceiling fans and light fixtures / switches, toilets and sinks, towel bars, doors and windows & more!
